Start Web Business In Hardly Any Time
by admin on Oct.25, 2009, under General
Lots of people want to earn a lot of money and some might study for years to do this. Some people might get lucky with the Lottery, but most of the time, ordinary people like you and me have to work hard for very little money. This is why you should think of starting an online business and learn about how you can make money easily working in your own time, wherever you like. Once you start your own business you can easily set your goals and achieve your dream salary if you are dedicated.
Now, this is not said to make you feel that you will not get anywhere if you start online business. You just have to be realistic as to your goals in the online business. Now, you will make more money than you are making from your daytime job, but only if you put in the work and are willing to put in the time. Working for yourself is not as easy as most people make it out to be.
When you work for yourself, it can be hard. You have to be motivated and willing to put in a lot of effort. You will be able to have flexible hours though which is a benefit and you will also be able to choose how you work.
There are a lot of people trying to make money from the work from home idea, and they do this by trying to sell their idea of how to make money from home.
Now, if you are going to go on a vacation do not do so after you have quit your job, take it while you are still working and still have an income coming in, this way you are not spending the money you need when you start your own business.
The trick in a situation like this is to not be in a huge hurry. Yes, we all know that you want to get out and start working for yourself, but do not quit you day job just yet, until you are making money from your online work. Also, find a free course for online business development.

New Web Business Resources
by admin on Sep.30, 2009, under General
If you are just beginning to think about how to start an Internet business, I shall suggest a few ideas for further exploration prior to writing your business plan. These will point you in the right direction, help you understand the unique jargon of Internet marketing and allow you to build a business that can grow over time.
I’m not really arranging these in terms of the order of their importance, because all three are truly necessary for anyone examining the possibility of a web enterprise.
You should try to locate a free course on Internet business. Stay away from any that promise some secret or magic formula to instant riches. There is no such magic bullet. You need to learn how to put together a real business, built on sound principles.
Google Account. Just go the Google home page. Below the search box, you will see a short list of links. Click the link titled “Business Solutions.” There you will find a list of more than a dozen resources that Google offers to business owners. I suggest that you simply take a few hours exploring in detail what they have to offer. Eventually you may find some that will never be useful for your business. However, many will be. In my various businesses, I use the following most frequently:
– AdWords (the advertising platform for Google’s pay-per-click program)
– Analytics, which provides statistics for all of your major website metrics–free
– Checkout (a payment processing system)
– Website Optimizer (tests your content on your website)–free
– Google Site Search (allows your users to find relevant content on your websites)–free
There are other Google services that I also use. I particularly enjoy the Google Reader (for RSS feeds) and Google Docs, which allow me to access my documents from any computer that I use–as long as I have Internet access. Your Google account is valid for all of these.
I use a free hyperlinked resource guide. I got mine from a website that provides one in a pdf document. It lists a number of useful free resources as well as recommended software and memberships that are not free.
If you follow these suggestions, you will greatly improve the chances for your long term business success. It is very important to get off to a solid start.

How to Build From a Single Mini-Site Into an Online Empire
by admin on Aug.25, 2009, under General
Whether you a beginning a new Internet enterprise or adding to your already existing business with an Internet presence, one of the first decisions you will need to make is what size website to build. A large site might become what is known as an authority site; that is certainly advantageous. At the other end of the spectrum, a highly focused mini-site has its own share of benefits.
Here are some reasons that you may decide to build a mini-site, or have one created for you:
1. I have heard that a mini-site has a good chance of ranking high in the search engine listings even with a small number of external links.
2. I think I should learn beginning with a small site, and then I can add more mini-sites to my portfolio once I am ready to grow.
3. I won’t have to come up with as much content for a mini-site as I would for a large site.
4. Most of my competitors have small websites.
5. It’s not as difficult, time consuming or expensive to build a smaller website.
6. My husband or wife forbids me to build a large site!
Anyone could easily construct a list of advantages for larger sites, as well, but that is not the focus of this article.
The rationale of all of those six is valid. Well, maybe not the one about your spouse; I can’t know about that one unless you write me to tell me. The other reasons make sense only if you conduct the all important preliminary research. The third rationale is accurate, however, you must recognize that you will need to do some periodic updates on your pages. Reason number 4 is niche specific, so I’ll take your word for your belief that it is true in the case of the market in which you are competing. All other things being equal, reason 5 is self-evident.
I have written elsewhere about the extreme importance of careful keyword research for a mini-site. If you go through that process properly, the first reason is true because you will be optimizing for just a few, closely related semantically, long-tail keywords. If any of those terms are unclear, I suggest that you read that article prior to continuing with this one.
Thus, I am left to address the second rationale–starting with one mini-site and building more in the same niche over a period of time. Here’s how I recommend you go about that:
1. Keep that original list of keywords on your desktop–the list that you hired expert keyword researches to build or that you carefully built yourself.
2. You have already set up your first site for closely related keywords in that list that have long tails. Now look for another set of closely related keywords. Repeat the competition analysis, as described in the previous article. If this set of keywords meet the same standards applied to those you used in the first site, then it’s time to begin mini-site number two.
3. Using article marketing, a few directory listings and other external link building, begin your promotion efforts with site number two (while still continuing your work on the original site’s promotion).
4. Once that site is on its way toward improved search engine rankings and increased traffic, repeat the process for site number 3…and so on.
After a while you will find that you have conquered all of the viable keywords in your niche. Then it will be time to begin serious efforts to improve your conversion rate by testing as many variables within your site as you can identify. Only after you have maximized your traffic and conversion rate should you begin to consider launching an attack on the next niche.
This won’t all happen in the first month; creating a solid business takes time. Be patient and act intelligently, and you will definitely succeed.

Handle the Learning Challenge in a New E-Business
by admin on Aug.15, 2009, under General
Do you want the bad news about starting a new online business first, or the good news? The bad news is that you have a great deal to learn. The good news is that it’s fun and that much of the basic information can be found inexpensively or even free. The bad news is that many of the sites that you will come across are scams (at worst) or not credible. The good news is that you’ll be able to tell the difference sooner than you think.
One sensible way to start your e-business education is to find a reputable course with the fundamentals of starting online. As long as you are diligent in following the lessons and applying what you learn as you go, that will get you well on your way toward distinguishing between the scams and the legitimate offers, between the metaphorical wheat and the chaff.
You will discover that the reality of starting your business will fall somewhere between the extremes of the unscrupulous types who tell you that you can work half an hour per week in your pajamas and retire in a year and the other extreme of thinking it is an impossible task, as you may be thinking now. Yes, you’ll need to get organized. You must structure your time efficiently, and don’t forget about life’s priorities along the way (like family, your ethical standards and enjoying what you do).
Browse related topics (those you learned about in your short, hopefully free, course) on article directories, like A1Articles.com or EzineArticles.com. Consult blogs that you deem to be trustworthy. Find information about keyword research, business niche selection, design of online business sites and other such related topics.
Don’t rush out to buy anything, yet. The next step is to sit down with some paper and pencil. From the list of things that need to be done in starting your business, decide what you find interesting and and what sounds so boring that you would rather outsource the tasks. Don’t worry, you can learn to do anything on that list. Simply decide whether you want to invest your available funds in learning resources or in labor to actually perform each task.
Now it’s time to spend money. If you find yourself tempted to buy an instructional product that you find, say a course on affiliate marketing or a set of videos about search engine optimization, hit your pause button. Instead of following your impulse to buy now, do these: 1) Add the web page to your favorites list so that you know you can find your way back to it later. 2) Put on a pair of “critic’s glasses.” Analyze the structure of the sales page that you found so convincing. At some point in the not too distant future, you want to become a copywriter as skilled as the one that had you reaching for your wallet. Then, find a lot more products in the same category, so that you can later compare the alternatives.
I impose a mandatory three day waiting period before I buy something I’ve just found. That gives me time to consider it rationally, removing myself from the emotional responses elicited by the well presented offer. If I still think that I have found the best solution for my needs after that three day period, I use the bookmark to find the right page, buy the product and get to work absorbing the material.
Beware! Buying can make you feel good, but your new purchase does you no good unless you use it, and using it means implementing the strategies that you learn about or the procedures for which the software was designed. In other words, you must act!

Quit Your Job and Work From Home
by admin on Apr.20, 2009, under General
With the horrible economic state and jobs being lost across the US, home based businesses are on the rise. People are fed up with the corporate world and are turning to online resources to start a business. Can the internet really provide a viable business? Historically we have seen the internet do amazing things and we have also seen it crash. Will there be another “Dot Com” crash? Well, sure there could be, but is that going to keep you from trying to tap into the multi-billion industry of ecommerce and web related opportunities? I know I wouldn’t.
Before you start an online business, consider the following;
- Do you have money to start an online business?
- Do you know anything about internet marketing?
- What products will you sell?
- Do you have your own products or will you sell other’s products?
- How much money does your online business need to generate before you can quit your job?
- Is your spouse or partner open-minded and willing to support you?
- How many hours do you have to dedicate to an online business every week?
- Will you have a partner or do it all yourself?
- Do you have a business license?
- Do you have any resources; web designers, marketing staff, programmers, etc?
- Are you self motivated or do you need support?
- Do you get bored easily?
- Do you have any prior experience running a business?
- Who is your competition?
- Can you beat your competition?
- And the list goes on…
Starting an online business is not much different than a starting a physical business. Although the costs can most times be much cheaper, the dedication and business strategies still apply. Many Online Marketers who claim to be Gurus, make the process of making money online sound so easy. The reality is it take time, dedication, persistence and much much more. The average business owner will fail after just 2-3 years. The average internet marketer will give up after 6 months to 1 year. It’s easier to give up on an online business because you don’t have a store front and employees. Most online business start as sole proprietors out of a home office or garage. It’s so easy to walk away from yourself and your home office then to dump a physical building with employees. The truth of the matter is, both business structions are exactly the same, people just think of them different.
Starting your online business.
The best way to start an online business is to start with your hobbies. What do you like to do in your free time? What things do you know more about than most people? Is it photography, sports, knitting, wood carving, surfing, fashion, etc.? Make a list of the three things you are interested in most and use that to build some ideas. Start with Amazon and checkout the magazine section. What magazines exist on your interests? Also do some Google searches for your hobbie(s) and see what comes up. Keep in mind that other businesses who are already making money on your interests may have been around for awhile and have the authority in the market. How will you become the authority?
Do you have what it takes?
Starting an online business has many channels. When I say channels, I mean skills such as web design, coding, marketing, etc.? Do you have this knowledge or a team of people that can help you? It’s important to know that online businesses come with technical headaches. Everything from hackers, crackers, bugs in the code, computer problems, crashing hard drives, etc. The list of technical nightmares can go on forever so be prepared. If you are working with a team of talent, how will you mange them? You’ll need time to make phone calls, exchange emails and much much more. If you are planning to quit your job, how will you organize your business during the beginning? This can be very challenging, so many people turn to virtual assistants and lead programs. You may need to get an extra phone line in your home office that can take voice mails any time of day.
Get Your Own Website
When you start your online business you will need your own website. It’s a good idea to have your own business branded website. Whether you have 10, 20 or 100 different websites, you still need a main business website with identifiable branding. Branding is everything when it comes to business and online ventures. If you hide under the radar and no one knows who you are because you mysteriously make websites late at night in your basement, you really have a lesser chance of success. So many people are afraid of putting their faces online and letting people know who they really are. Don’t be afraid of getting online and building your brand, this is what will make you more successful in the long-run.
Be the Professional
Be a professional 100% of the time and you will succeed. Even if you start a business based around your hobby and you don’t know everything there is to know, you can fake it. Haven’t your heard the famous line, “Fake it until you make it.” This goes for any business and everyone does it. There will always be times when you can’t answer every question and that is okay. You can always get back to your customers by phone or email at a later date. Thanks to the web, most information is available. You can ask questions on sites like Yahoo Answers or Google Groups. Your online business venture will include getting involved in message boards, so you will have an army of resources to rely on, when you need help. Don’t let a few bits of missing information stop you from looking like the guru, the answers are only a few clicks away.
Your Competitors, who are they? Do the research!
When you first start your online business, you will need to do a ton of research. Find out what your competitors are doing online. What kind of promotions do they have? Who is their target market? Are they doing any paid advertising on Google, Yahoo, or MSN? What kind of products do they sell? Can you offer something better? These are all important things to consider. Being successful online is all about finding a good niche/market and beating the competition with better products and creative advertising methods. When they are walking through the front door, you will be walking in the back door with your bag of tricks. You’ll know everything about them, but they know nothing about you and then you dominate take over. I can’t stress enough how important it will be for you to do good market research and discover everything you can about your target market and competition. Taking the time will determine how successful you really are online.
Conclusion
Starting an online business can be challenging at times, but with the right research, time and well though out marketing plans, your business can be a success. The goal is to never give up and be persistent. Remember that successful people do big things, they don't wait for anything. Starting an online business is both exciting and scary at the same time, but one thing is for sure, it can be more profitable than any day job you’d have otherwise. Opportunities online are endless, it’s just a matter of finding the one that fits you!
