Ferriss presents a step-by-step guide to his free-wheeling lifestyle, allowing us to follow in his footsteps and realize lifelong dreams. Some people consider him to be heroic, like an “Indiana Jones for the digital age”.
This challenging book has been a #1 Wall Street Journal Best Seller, a #1 NY Times Best Seller, and a #1 BusinessWeek Bestseller.
Replace Obsolete Assumptions
His basic premise is that we need to replace many, if not most, of our current assumptions and apply what he calls the “Rules of the New Rich”.
Outdated assumptions limit us and prevent us from enjoying life now. In particular, we need to replace assumptions that waste our time and force us to live in a particular location. We’d like to be able to manage our businesses from anywhere, anytime.
We need to value our time and our mobility as we learn to join the ranks of the New Rich (NR).
Rules of the New Rich
According to Ferris, the “Rules of the New Rich” include the following:
- Retirement is Worst-Case Scenario Insurance
- Interest and Energy are Cyclical
- Less is Not Laziness
- The Timing Is Never Right
- Ask for Forgiveness, Not Permission
- Emphasize Strengths, Don’t Fix Weaknesses
- Things in Excess Become the Opposite
- Money Alone is Not the Solution
- Relative Income is More Important than Absolute Income
- Distress is Bad, Eustress is Good
The 4HWW Model
His model provides us with a roadmap for realizing our own lifelong dreams. He shows us how to:
- Live like a millionaire
- Free time and automate income
- Outsource our lives to overseas virtual assistants for $5/hour
- Travel the world without quitting our jobs
- Eliminate 50% of our work in 48 hours
- Trade a long-haul career for short work bursts and mini-retirements
He uses the DEAL acronym to describe his model, where:
- D = Definition
- E = Elimination
- A = Automation
- L = Liberation
He encourages us to use “Dreamlining” to design our own luxurious lifestyles. Elimination, simplification, and outsourcing to virtual assistants are the building blocks to a luxurious lifestyle among the New Rich (NR).
This is an art and a science we will refer to as Lifestyle Design (LD). Automation is another key component of the Lifestyle Design (LD) process, i.e., building systems and processes that eliminate ourselves as bottlenecks. Don’t automate anything that should be eliminated, and don’t delegate anything that should be automated or simplified.

Use these guidelines to recognize opportunities and sieze them – Carpe Diem. Having options; i.e., our choice is our real power.
Personally, I love the idea of creating a 4-Hour Workweek for myself.
Our courage and self-confidence, we can realize our dreams quicker and easier than we ever expected. I plan to implement many of his ideas into my own life.

Attraction Marketing’s Nitty-Gritty

The difficulty with new stuff is that you can’t ever be really sure if it will work for you till you give it a try, and that same principle applies in checking out attraction marketing by Mike Dillard. It is a new concept that is revolutionizing the internet promotion world, both in particulars of building your network and selling your goods. It’s so new and so different ; the reactions towards the methods and methods are mixed, to say the least.
The large Difference
Essentially, what this new strategy of network building that this MLM business model seeks to do isn’t to restructure, but to refocus. There’s nothing wrong with the basic premise that you need to have an interconnected group of people for effective exchange. What attraction marketing tries to change is the technique in which you will build your network. Those who have attempted it and succeeded will make sure that it works. There are some folks who would say that it did not help in making them succeed, but it is arguable if any system could help them in any way.
If you’ve been in the internet marketing business for a bit, you would know that it takes tough work to survive and win in this competitive market. BUT it’s not only how hard you work that counts, it’s getting the right results for all the effort that you have put into it, and that is why you must turn your attempts toward something that will pay off. Attraction marketing will teach you how to concentrate on your bottom line and at the same time give you free MLM leads thru various ways using the Net and the tools available from it.
Attract, Not Wheedle
The old systems of recruiting are too assertive to be of any good. In reality, many of them fall only a little short of asserting,’join us or die.’ it makes sense, so, to make them come to you of their own free will, and often times, enthusiastically. This way, you no longer have to exert any effort in recruitment, and you can concentrate on the more crucial aspect of any business, making a return. The logic is this : if you are making a profit and own a successful business, folks would see that you do something right. When they see you as someone who can make it happen and they flock to you for that very reason, then that’s attraction marketing.
Endless Cycle
Attraction selling is a most productive cycle and really self-sustaining : achieve success in your promoting techniques, attract more folks to your network ; be more successful in your promotional efforts, attract more folks to your network. Now, compare that with the standard systems of recruiting while trying to sell your products and seeing your profits drip away with your vanishing downline. Which would you rather have?
The Internet
When the web came online, it was inevitable that it might change the way the world communicated and they way commerce will be done. Everything is quicker, and the reach is so much wider than it ever has been. On the one hand, it opened up a wholly new playground for companies. On the other, it also meant that a lot more folk could come out and play. It is a force to be said with, unless you learn how to harness its powers for your own use and not be overpowered by the sheer amount of info that flows through it. The explanation why attraction marketing has become more successful than anyone would have thought is that rather than going against Goliath, this David has tamed the monster to do his bidding.
