3 Indespensible Character Traits You Must possess To Start A Home Business
by admin on Mar.06, 2010, under General
1.)Organization – Working at home presents a whole lot of obstacles that you wouldn’t really have if you were in running a retail store.
To start, your actual physical desk space or office area. Make sure you have a dedicated place to do your business, where you can go to get away and have some privacy. Keep all in it’s personal place. Keep your paper folders neatly organized in a filing cabinet, and make sure you keep stuff clearly labeled. Keep your laptop free from mess by deleting icons that you do not use daily or regularly into a sub folder. Clean up your internet favorites folder so that all the webpages you use can be very easily located with 2-3 short points & clicks of your cursor. Make sure office space is free from distractions from anyone else you live with, spouse, children, or flatmates. The best choice would be to change one bedroom into your office space, since it would have a door that you could close to be alone. If that is not an option, at least locate a place that is away from the busy-ness of the primary living areas…away from the kitchen, away from the TV, and away from where the children play. A dining room area may work well. When I was visiting someone over the break, I set up my office space on their ironing board in their basement!
If you have young kids like I do, make sure you set clear rules so that when you’re in your office with the door shut, that they know that you are working and don’t want to be bothered. One caveat here – I’ve always told my children that if my door is closed and they just want a hug or kiss, that is okay! Just come on in and there is little more important than that! If you’re on the mobile phone for business and your son wants a hug, don’t apologize to the person on the phone, just tell them that it is part of the benefits of working at home and that you’re not some corporate-type person who only sees their children for an hour in the evening before bedtime. They will respect that.
2.)Discipline – You must create a DMO – or Daily Method of Operation. Essentially that is a routine that you’ll keep on the days that you’re working the business. Make it detailed. Plan out when you’re starting your day, having breakfast and lunch, taking your breaks, making calls, doing advertising, learning, attending conference calls, performing administrative tasks, going to the bank/post office, shopping online, etc. Working from home makes you very vulnerable to getting pulled in every direction. By having a DMO in place and sticking to it, it will lessen the chance for you to waste time when you could be making money. Working at home offers you the flexibility to take breaks or spend time with your friends when YOU want to, not when a supervisortells you that you can. Make sure to allow time in there for family time, calm reading time, resting, trips to the park, spending quality time with your children, making breakfast for the kids, or even time with your sweetie during the afternoon with the door locked. You got into business for yourself at home for these advantages, make sure you take advantage of them. Work when you’re working and play when you’re playing.
3.)Focus – Working for yourself from home will trigger you to wear many hats. One minute you’ll be a marketer, the next a customer service rep, the next a sales executive, the next a student, the next a administrative assistant. You’ll essentially have to do it all. Just make sure that you focus on one thing at a time and don’t try to do lots of jobs at once. Multitasking really makes you LESS productive, because the human mind can actually only focus on one item at a time and still be 100% focused on that one thing. You’re mind cannot be 50/50 focused evenly on 2 things. One of the things will get less attention and you’ll most likely fail. Compartmentalize your jobs , focusing fully on one thing until you get to a stopping point and then picking up the next task. It may help to have a daily checklist of tasks you need to accomplish that would tie in nicely to your DMO.
Keeping everything in mind that I have reported on, just because you work at home does not mean that you always have to WORK FROM YOUR ACTUAL HOME! Let me explain. Some of my most productive days has been when I take my notebook and wifi and head out to the lake and work on a bench out in nature for a few hours, or sitting at a table at Starbucks or Panera Bread. Most people in business will greatly benefit by using a smart phone, which will allow you to send and receive emails on the go, adjust your Facebook Profile, Twitter profile, and other social networking webpages. Don’t feel like you have to be stuck in your home office, get out about 2-3 times per week to give yourself a change of scenery. It will give you inspiration and get you out in public interacting with people. Go somewhere that will cause you to be operating in a energy and mindset that can be vibrated over the phone to those you may speak with while you’re out. What is FREEDOM all about if you’re still stuck in an office all day, even if it is a home office?

Work Online From Home By Understanding Web Marketing 2.0
by admin on Jun.21, 2009, under General
In recent times, especially with the rise of the Internet, the amount of work that gets done by way of freelancing has been rising at a phenomenal pace, and not without reason. Freelancing mode of working is a big win-win for both service provider and service buyer. And this is just one idea for successful working online from home
From a freelancer’s perspective, advantages of freelancing over a regular eight-hour job are aplenty. No one is looking over your shoulder and controlling you. Your competence and performenc is what will determine your income, but not your boss any more. Managing your time is in your hands and does not depend on how your manager assigns tasks. This helps you manage your time and energy way more effectively, and makes you a high achiever thanks to improved performace. Part if personal freedom is to not be tied to fix working hours, let alone follow an alarm clock.
From a service buyer’s perspective, a task-based hire is always a better deal than giving someone a permanent job. Every web marketing training will teach you that this way you pay only when you need to get some job done and not all the time. As he does not commit a fixed salary month after month forever, the freelancer naturally takes the responsibility of doing the job to the best of his abilities and as per the set expectations. Due to increasing competition amongst freelancers who work online from home, he generally gets the job done for a minimal cost. Also, there are no added costs of administrative overhead, and he rarely has to spent money on resources like PC, Internet, and most importantly, office space.
Working from home and being a freelancer is definitely the job of the future. And this is the best time to begin. Positioning yourself correctly is your success foundation for working online from home. To work from home online can only be a bit of a pitfall if you are not disciplined enough to get your time resources structured. But other than that it is a beatiful way of making cash.

Posting Articles Online: Why Journalism Isn’t a Poor Man’s Career Anymore
They say that good writers are born. The talented ones have what it takes in their genes and their burning passion for writing is a form of art. One reason why only a handful of writers thrive is because only a few get to have rewarding careers in writing. But, nowadays, that is no longer a reality. Welcome the era of online journalism.
One good way to earn big bucks at this modern age of computers is to submit articles online. It can be pretty lucrative if one knows the right people to work for. The simplest thing to remember is this the more articles you submit, the more money would pour in.
Electronic magazines (more popularly known as ezines) are the low cost versions of the regular magazine which have to be published and which have employees who set up the magazine layouts and who run the printing equipment. To add to that, there is the problem of having to hire regular writers who report to the office day in and day out. Add to that the cost of the office space and utilities and you’ll have an idea how much a publishing firm spends, therefore, the need to cut back on some other expenses (which could include the writers paychecks).
An ezine could have numerous subscribers (if well advertised, it could have thousands of readers) hence the need for more writers to produce quality articles for these clients. Ezines could also pay a hefty amount to those who can deliver what they ask for especially when they have proven that your articles are one of the most read.
The initial step is for the writer to have sufficient skills and enough guts to have his article be seen online. It is also imperative that he knows how to catch up with deadlines and to deliver the number of articles that are assigned to him. He should also have a talent in coming up with an article from scratch and should not copy other writers works (called plagiarism).
There are three ways of submitting an article online: you could write numerous articles and post them on a site (and hope that it gets published and paid later on); you could choose from an array of topics to write about, submit the article, and then hope that it gets an approval (an approved article automatically gets paid); or you could have an agent who assigns topics to write about (and get a sure payment per article).
They say work is not work when you love what you’re doing. This can be truly said of posting articles online. Whichever way is chosen in submitting your work, there is sure to be a hefty sum that awaits those who labor hard.
