Your Internet Marketing Adventure 3 - Can you spend nothing and get something?

Once you have changed your mindset and done the necessary actions to really believe that you can set up your own business online, be your own boss and ‘work’ when you want and where you want, you have found yourself a mentor that is an expert in his arena, has the ability to teach his formulas and strategy’s and perhaps most importantly, you connect with, you are ready to really get going.

Your mentor will help in so many ways and you will probably find that you have had to make some sort of investment to get your mentor. This might not necessarily be a financial investment, but perhaps and old fashioned bartering process, where you swap something you have of value for what they have of value to you. This brings us into the next step of the adventure. Online you see many adverts and websites promising you riches in a short period of time – unfortunately many are scams, which make the idea of investing even harder to contemplate. Most of us getting involved with Internet Marketing are looking for ways to supplement our income, at least to begin with, because we believe we could do with the extra income to pay bills, or save for a holiday etc. Start out with huge dreams and work towards them one bit at a time. But what most of us have in common is the fact that we would like more MONEY. Whichever way you look at it, we are all looking for ways to earn more, so that we can live the life we want to live. This causes a problem in the human brain because reality says that we have to pay rent, mortgage, car repayments, credit cards and regular household bills – which we are struggling with already hence looking at ways of generating more income – and on the other hand, in order to make this additional income, we have to invest anywhere from $47-$10,000.

So how do we choose – well this is where your mentor comes into action, he or she can help direct you along the path you believe you want to take. Then you should attend a couple of seminars, see who is out there and how they present themselves. See who resonates with you and whose message really hits home – then invest in their program. The live speakers usually present their program and you get discounts and bonuses for signing up at the event. Alternatively, you can do research on the internet and pick a few that you believe will work for you. Discuss them with your mentor and then make an investment. Start small if you like, but invest, buy into someone’s program (that could well be your mentors) download free PDF reports and whitepapers – invest your time into reading them. Invest in whichever media suits you best and start absorbing information.

One thing all the ‘guru’s’ out there talk about is investing in yourself. Investing money in ongoing training and continually improving yourself is a sure fire way to bring success your way. What a lot of the programs out there do is save you from investing the 0,000 in training and making your own mistakes and providing you with the tried and tested formula. If you invest in one of these, then the responsibility comes down on you to TAKE ACTION. Don’t start collecting these courses and leaving them unopened on your shelf. Don’t become a seminar junkie and keep collecting great notes but do nothing with them.

The most important thing to do is TAKE ACTION; do all the necessary research and information gathering, evaluate it and do something.

Your Internet Marketing Adventure 2 - You have to take Action!

Getting started on the internet is in reality a daunting prospect. As I mentioned in my 1st article: The First step in your Internet Marketing Adventure, I am undertaking this adventure and getting involved. The plethora of options on line means that focus is a key component to moving forwards. Once you have made a decision on which avenue to travel. The next step is to get involved. What do I mean by this? Well, the first step is getting yourself into the right frame of mind. If you have decided to go into business online, then you need to commit to this 100% and believe that you can make it work. If you feel you are ready, you need to find a guide or mentor to help get you to the next stage. In this day and age, it is very hard to come up with a new idea. As we move forward, we are exposed to more and more technology that makes the implementation of an old idea, seem like something new. Within the internet marketing arena a common phrase for success, is Wash, rinse and repeat. In other words, when you find something that works, do it over and over again. But how do you know what works? What should be rinsed and repeated? What you need to do is find someone that is already successful in your chosen area, whatever it might be. You need a mentor.

Mentor is a word loosely associated to many people that do not really fit the mould of a true mentor. What you are looking for, is someone that is already doing what you are thinking of getting into, is successful within that market and perhaps most importantly can teach it to you. It's difficult to find someone to fit that bill because there are a lot of people pretending to be mentors that are happy to take your money and deliver nothing. It is a common human characteristic. We take advice (mentorship) from those least qualified to mentor us. Take your next door neighbour or your friends – most of whom at this stage are probably struggling to make ends meet, pay all the bills and keep a roof over their heads. These guys are the first to give you pinpoint accurate opinions on when the stock market will recover, when the economy will recover and what to invest your money in, should you ask them. We are all guilty, it's just human nature. The problem with that is your choice of mentor has got you to where you are today. If you want to be rich, why do you take advice from someone who is poor? You need someone that has done it before, can prove they have done it before and can then teach you exactly how to do it.

Now you may have read the above and discard it as nonsense, but for those of you who are ready to make a change in your lives and start living the life you have always wanted – TAKE ACTION.

Ministry Marketing Mistake To Avoid Online What is the number one ministry marketing mistake people make in their marketing plan online? Real easy answer. They try to sell! They operate out of fear ( “I have to pay that bill…I need to make money for my ministry”) and that results in trying to push their services and products on people. It is not just a ministry marketing mistake, but also a business marketing mishap that many people step into when going to the internet to make money or sell/promote their products or services. Check out the majority of posts on twitter. What do you see? Yep. SPAM city. But you don’t have to make that mistake. Learn a lesson from my mentor to avoid this ministry marketing mistake. As you might know, my friend, Stephen Pierce, started out in the futures and commodities niche ten years ago. He gave away free daily trades five days a week for a year.He shared more details than most paid advisory services. He didn’t make any money that first year. He focused on providing value, even though he was homeless for part of this time and was in desperate need of money. He knew he was onto something when he took a vacation and phones started ringing. People were upset because they were dependent on his free daily trades. Most marketers don’t start out the way Stephen did. And he has amplified to me this error. I see it everywhere. I cringe if I see someone make this ministry marketing mistake on Facebook or Twitter. The #1 mistake most marketers make when starting out is to sell something right away. They create a website and begin selling their own product or an affiliate product, or ministry book, etc They go on twitter other other social media sites and push and push the product. This seems like such a logical thing to do but it misses a very important step…. creating value. So here are 5 steps you can take to create value so you can create wealth….a clear path to avoid a ministry marketing mistake in your market plan: 1.) Instead of asking yourself “what should I sell?” ask yourself, “Am I truly providing value?” One way to determine if you’re providing value is to ask yourself if what you have would be missed if it was made unavailable for a time. 2.) Share your value through social influence. Condition your market in such a way that people will automatically click when you put something out. Focus on contributing to your market. Focus on serving. 3.) Showcase your ability by building social capital. Social capital can only be earned by sharing and by showing. You can’t buy it. Share and show….don’t sell and spam. 4.) Find the GAP in your market. GAP = Goals, Activities,Priorities. When you know the GAP, things like writing copy, producing a ministry video, writing a book, creating a marketing plan….. and delivering value become easy. 5.) Value increases something people in your market want more of or decreases something they want less of. Sometimes these are simultaneous. Take a sheet of paper. On the right side write the word “increase.” On the left side write the word “decrease.” Look at how your product or service or ministry increases what your market wants and decreases what they don’t want. When you create value in this way you won’t be able to stop the resources from coming in. When you serve with integrity and in a spirit of excellence, more opportunities will come your way!
