Which Keywords to Use for Your Niche

You thought that homework stopped when you graduated from school. In the world of business, you never stop learning if you want to go as far as the road will take you. To that end, it is time to do a little homework for your content – keyword research.
Now, you don’t have to be stellar at research in order to get this done and get it done right. Keyword research is finding the words that will rank your content and your website head and shoulders above the rest. Are you ready? Let’s begin.
Conducting Keyword Research
There are a few things that you can do:
Create a list of words. Put yourself in the customer’s shoes. What words would you input to find you? Write down as many as you can. Better yet, record them in an electronic spreadsheet for easier editing later. Choose single words and multiple word phrases.
Ask your customers. You already have some customers. Survey them to find out how they found you. If it was through an Internet search ask what words they used. It seems too easy, but most business owners overlook such a resource because they don’t ask the right questions.
Use keyword software tools. These tools can be very helpful once you have your list of possible keywords. The software will let you know a variety of things about your keywords and whether they are good enough to reach your target audience.
Analyze the data. From your list, whittle down to just the keywords that are likely to get you what you want. Then, rank those keywords in order of best to worst.
Try out those keywords. Don’t use all of them at one time, but keep track of which ones
you use and for how long. Using website management tools you can find out how much traffic and conversion (how many people used your keyword content as a means to do something – click, sign up, or buy) rates changed.
So, are you ready? You obviously already use content, but maybe it isn’t working well enough. There are always ways to make it better and keywords are one of those ways.

Several weeks back friend of mine was telling me how he was generating up to 70 leads a day by writing articles. Holy cow I thought to myself. How can this guy, who was only doing marketing online for two months, do this using FREE advertising. I was speechless. I knew how hard it was to do that because I was only getting 15 leads a day and I was using the costly Pay Per Click to do that. How was this guy doing it. Dave shared some tips with me that I will reiterate.
First, he began to write articles on topics that are of interest in the network marketing field. Being new to the online field Dave had to do some homework to find out what topics would be best. This is very important to understand. All he as doing is negotiating what he was learning. You do not need to be an expert you just need to be able to get the opinions of experts and what better way to do that than to use Google. In his research he was able to create articles that he knew people were interested in because he knew how often they were searching for key words related to the articles. Additionally when he knew of someone that had success with a specific topic he would interview that person and put and MP3 on his blog or use the content to create another article.
Second, after the article was created, he would publish the article on his blog so that anyone could read the article. He would also optimize his blog so that the key words that people had been searching for were in the key words section of his blog so that the article could be found by the major search engines.
Third, in order for the search engines to rank the article high, it would need to be an article that had lots of reverences to it across the Internet. This is done by having your article published on lots and lots of sites on the Internet. By having these article links that are called back links, you will get the search engines to rank you higher on their pages for relevance.
Fourth and most important is to be consistent and continue to post articles thereby giving you more and more links to your site. With more and more links there is a snowball affect that brings more and more traffic to your site as the search engines rank you pages higher and higher.
