Opt-In Email Marketing What You Need to Get Started Quickly

Opt-In Email marketing is one of the most effective ways to gain a captive audience which can be converted into a multitude of customers as time progresses.
The first things you need to build your list and capitalize on this is that you need to give people a reason to want to join your list. People need to be shown an attractive benefit oriented download, but need to be told to enter their first name and email address to get to that download.
You’ll want to put an attractive picture of the download on the first page (known as the squeeze page) and also on the download page.
Only ask them for the First Name and Email address in most cases. The reason is the more information you ask them up front, the less signups you”ll receive, even though the quality may be slightly higher.
Remember your objective will be to place them into a process which will provide them good value, reviews, and offers, and in time many will become buyers moving forward. Just remember to give first before expecting something back in return, and you’ll get there.
If you can’t find something to give away to build your list, search the Internet for PLR. PLR stands for Private Label Rights, and this means material which you usually have the right to modify, rename, or modify in any way you see fit to suit your audience.
The important thing to remember in opt-in email marketing is that the gift needs to be helpful (although not over the top) remember it is free. Secondly it needs to have an attractive image to place on your pages. Most good PLR sites have complete packages including images, pages, and original Word document you can edit and re-save as PDFs.
You’ll also want to make sure the gifts have giveaway rights. Most PLR do, but in any case, there will be a text file within the folder where the materials are, usually called license.txt. This file will specify plainly if the item has giveaway rights or not. Always make sure it does to avoid any issues.
Lastly you’ll want to make sure you sign up for a good autoresponder account. An autoresponder is usually just a web-based system that allows you to create a form to put on your sites to collect these first names and emails, and to communicate with them later in the back end.
You can also pre-program messages to go out to people for many different purposes, and you can create smaller sub lists based on what you are targeting if you wish. Or you can keep it simple and just do broadcasts to a single list. It’s your choice and really there’s no need to over complicate.
A great strategy to increase your effectiveness as time goes on is to ask your readers what they want. Send a simple email and collect their responses, or setup a short mail at the beginning of the sequence to ask them in exchange for a small bonus.
Remember, for long term success you’ll want to ensure you have a two way relationship with your audience. Build a fan base of friends, not just a list of names and you’ll be unusually successful.

It is a relatively easy thing to build your “list” in that niche fairly rapidly. Once you follow people and contribute, most people will follow you back. Of course, it helps immensely if you actually contribute and add something of value to the conversation.
Now, once you have built up a sizeable following, you casually and in a nice way, recommend your product or service. Your link may go to your website (recommended), or it may take them directly to an affiliate link (not recommended).
If you have a following of 5000 people, what you have there is a virtual gold mine! Here’s why. All of those folks are interested in the same things in which you are interested. Nearly all of them are highly targeted prospects. Even if only 25 people click through to your sales page with any given message, think of what that would have cost you in a week using PPC!
This same format can be applied to any targeted gathering, such as a social bookmarking site, Squidoo, or forums that are targeted to your particular niche.
Web 2.0 (fancy word for social marketing) is truly one of the most proven and powerful marketing weapons available in your arsenal. Best of all, it is free. At the most, it costs you a couple of hours per day to click around and tweet, comment, etc. If you don’t have time for that, that too can be outsourced very easily.
