3 Indespensible Character Traits You Must possess To Start A Home Business
by admin on Mar.06, 2010, under General
1.)Organization – Working at home presents a whole lot of obstacles that you wouldn’t really have if you were in running a retail store.
To start, your actual physical desk space or office area. Make sure you have a dedicated place to do your business, where you can go to get away and have some privacy. Keep all in it’s personal place. Keep your paper folders neatly organized in a filing cabinet, and make sure you keep stuff clearly labeled. Keep your laptop free from mess by deleting icons that you do not use daily or regularly into a sub folder. Clean up your internet favorites folder so that all the webpages you use can be very easily located with 2-3 short points & clicks of your cursor. Make sure office space is free from distractions from anyone else you live with, spouse, children, or flatmates. The best choice would be to change one bedroom into your office space, since it would have a door that you could close to be alone. If that is not an option, at least locate a place that is away from the busy-ness of the primary living areas…away from the kitchen, away from the TV, and away from where the children play. A dining room area may work well. When I was visiting someone over the break, I set up my office space on their ironing board in their basement!
If you have young kids like I do, make sure you set clear rules so that when you’re in your office with the door shut, that they know that you are working and don’t want to be bothered. One caveat here – I’ve always told my children that if my door is closed and they just want a hug or kiss, that is okay! Just come on in and there is little more important than that! If you’re on the mobile phone for business and your son wants a hug, don’t apologize to the person on the phone, just tell them that it is part of the benefits of working at home and that you’re not some corporate-type person who only sees their children for an hour in the evening before bedtime. They will respect that.
2.)Discipline – You must create a DMO – or Daily Method of Operation. Essentially that is a routine that you’ll keep on the days that you’re working the business. Make it detailed. Plan out when you’re starting your day, having breakfast and lunch, taking your breaks, making calls, doing advertising, learning, attending conference calls, performing administrative tasks, going to the bank/post office, shopping online, etc. Working from home makes you very vulnerable to getting pulled in every direction. By having a DMO in place and sticking to it, it will lessen the chance for you to waste time when you could be making money. Working at home offers you the flexibility to take breaks or spend time with your friends when YOU want to, not when a supervisortells you that you can. Make sure to allow time in there for family time, calm reading time, resting, trips to the park, spending quality time with your children, making breakfast for the kids, or even time with your sweetie during the afternoon with the door locked. You got into business for yourself at home for these advantages, make sure you take advantage of them. Work when you’re working and play when you’re playing.
3.)Focus – Working for yourself from home will trigger you to wear many hats. One minute you’ll be a marketer, the next a customer service rep, the next a sales executive, the next a student, the next a administrative assistant. You’ll essentially have to do it all. Just make sure that you focus on one thing at a time and don’t try to do lots of jobs at once. Multitasking really makes you LESS productive, because the human mind can actually only focus on one item at a time and still be 100% focused on that one thing. You’re mind cannot be 50/50 focused evenly on 2 things. One of the things will get less attention and you’ll most likely fail. Compartmentalize your jobs , focusing fully on one thing until you get to a stopping point and then picking up the next task. It may help to have a daily checklist of tasks you need to accomplish that would tie in nicely to your DMO.
Keeping everything in mind that I have reported on, just because you work at home does not mean that you always have to WORK FROM YOUR ACTUAL HOME! Let me explain. Some of my most productive days has been when I take my notebook and wifi and head out to the lake and work on a bench out in nature for a few hours, or sitting at a table at Starbucks or Panera Bread. Most people in business will greatly benefit by using a smart phone, which will allow you to send and receive emails on the go, adjust your Facebook Profile, Twitter profile, and other social networking webpages. Don’t feel like you have to be stuck in your home office, get out about 2-3 times per week to give yourself a change of scenery. It will give you inspiration and get you out in public interacting with people. Go somewhere that will cause you to be operating in a energy and mindset that can be vibrated over the phone to those you may speak with while you’re out. What is FREEDOM all about if you’re still stuck in an office all day, even if it is a home office?

Internet Attraction Marketing – What you Need to Understand to Make Attraction Marketing Work
by admin on Dec.15, 2009, under General
Since the concept of Attraction Marketing became popular through the writings of Mike Dillard, Ann Sieg and others, every second Internet marketer seems to be jumping on the I’m attractive’ bandwagon. And in many cases it doesn’t really work. This reminds me of a recent television series.
I am not a great television fan, since I view it as an electronic revenue reducer. However, following my spouse’s advice, I did recently watch a few episodes from the reality series ‘True Beauty’. In this series a group of youngsters compete for the title of ‘most attractive person’. I am not sure exactly which personal attributes were being judged, but it was agonizing for me to observe the vanity of this group of young narcissistic upstarts, so under the impression of their own pretty faces, yet so devoid of real substance.
So does this television program have a bearing on Attraction Marketing? Most definitely! On the Internet (as on TV) you cannot, in the long run, pretend to be what you are not. You cannot consistently exhibit peronality traits that are not truly part of you. Sure, you can ‘fake it till you make it’ (very easy on the web). However, sooner or later, the cracks will shine through the veneer. I prefer the concept of ‘Authentic Marketing’ to that of Attraction Marketing. I agree that, if you are ‘attractive’, others will be drawn to you. Still, you should be authentic; i.e. you should project your true self in the first place. Do not fake it! Here are a few things that you, as an Internet Marketer, can do to attract people to you and what you are selling:
- First and foremost, be your authentic self. Do not pretend to be what you are not. Exhibit your good attributes, work hard on your shortcomings.Having said this, I feel that it is OK to define and develop an online ‘persona’, provided that it becomes part of you and exhibit this ‘personality’ consistently.
- Be unique in terms of the way you present yourself on the Web. Nobody finds a imitation ‘cookie-cutter’ appearance appealing.
- Have faith in in yourself. Others can sense that (or, conversely, the absence thereof).
- Be visible! On the Web that is very easy with present-day social media such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. If you did a Google search on your own name; how many of the listings on the first ten pages would be yours? Does it look like this?
- Work crazily at improving your marketing skills. Choose a marketing tool such as PPC or video and become an expert on it. The better your skill-set, the better your level of self-esteem will be. With the gigantic amount of information and training available on the Internet, this is not a very big challenge.
- Assist other online marketers wherever you can. Give, give, give, without expecting anything in return. It will eventually come back to you. That’s the way in which the Universe operates. And don’t underestimate your knowledge. On 28 August 2009 there were an estimated 1,668,870,408 Internet users. If your marketing skills are average, it means that you know more than about 843,000,000 other Internet users!
If you consider my remarks about ‘being attractive’ in a dating context, it should all make perfect sense. Now please move into ‘action mode’ and start doing something about it!If you still feel ’stuck’, you can get more help with Internet attraction marketing here.

Network Marketing Success – What Makes You Succeed, Part 2
by admin on Dec.13, 2009, under General
We will now discuss the positive motivating factors, and I am going to assume that you have read my previous article (‘Part 1′), which deals with the negative motivational issues. The positive motivators ‘attract’, while the negative ones ‘push away from’. If we can get them to act in the same direction, it’s an ideal situation!
Lou Tice, founder of the Pacific Institute, once told the story of how he had to assist a world-class African athlete to overcome a physical problem. Although this guy was Olympic material, he often developed a physical pain so bad that he had to stop running. After listening to the athlete’s story, Tice advised him to quit running altogether. You see, Tice found that the athlete could support his family with the proceeds from his wins, and that was his main motivator. According to Tice it was simply not a good enough motivation for such a lofty goal.
There is no such thing as a person who gets good at anything overnight. I think the media are guilty of creating the wrong impression here. They present an incorrect timeline by (inadvertently) depicting the change from loser to winner, from obscurity to stardom, in a few episodes on TV or within the duration of a single movie.
In the real world the ‘instant success’ is more often than not preceded by years, even decades, of practice, hardships and disappointments. This is applicable basically to any field of endeavor. So, on your way to becoming that marketing ’superhero’, you are going to meet with numerous distractions and disappointments. You will often ask yourself if this was a good idea in the first place, and you will want to quit on many occasions.
So it is only logical that your reasons for pursuing a specific course of action should be so good that they are more important than any setbacks. To excel at anything, be that sports, painting, gardening, or network marketing, you have to be hang in there for as long as it takes to be successful. And for that you require an exceptionally high level of motivation, preferably of the positive kind! So how do you get this?
To start off, you have to get yourself to a point of ‘must’. You must have no option but to achieve that goal. And to get to this magical point, you have to find yourself some magnificent ‘why’s. The better the ‘why’s you have, and the more congruent they are, the better. What I mean by magnificence is that the end result must really resonate within you at a gut level. On a scale of 0 to 10 it must be able to evoke a ‘10′ response. Sweaty skin. Heart beating faster. Pupils dilated.
I do not know what your motivators might be; you will have to do a lot of soul-searching. Draw up a ‘wish list’, and order the items with the most desirable one at the top. Then look at the ones at the top. If they evoke that magic euphoric response, if you must achieve them whatever the cost, come hell or high water, despite all odds, you’re doing good. If they only get a nine-out-of-ten rating, you might have to re-consider.
I would like to offer a word of advice here. In this series of articles I am focusing on issues that pertain directly or indirectly to money. Money is EXTREMELY important. But so is health, friendship and peace of mind, for example. The bottom line is this: you cannot have anything if it is not important to you. So if someone tries to tell you money is not important, don’t believe him – he’s broke.
Network marketing success and the money associated with it is not the ultimate goal. It is some of the magnificent things you can do with that money. So when (not ‘if’) you become that network marketing success story, and you do break through the million-dollar-a-year ceiling – what’s your life gonna look like? Your physical surroundings? Your friends? Your toys? Your looks? The hospital in Africa you will be sponsoring? This is the time to get super-creative!
Join me in my next article where I’ll show you how you can program your subconscious mind to pursue your goals. And no, it’s not the re-hashed old ‘goal setting and affirmation’ story.

Why Are So Many Good Leaders Quitting MLM?
by admin on Dec.08, 2009, under General
It’s a sad thing.
The MLM industry isn’t what it used to be. Sure, there are few top earners making the good money but is it really your best choice for a stable financial future?
That’s what I’m going to discuss with you here.
You will see the pros and cons going on today which I hope will cause you to make the right choice.
So what is really going on?
Well, simply put, the promises of old school MLM and long time residual income are all but dead for the average Joe.. or Joanne for the ladies.
The MLM business model used to be based on the idea that one could work for 2-5 year and retire in style. An organization is something that could be handed down to generations if worked properly.
That’s is not the case any longer.
Of course there is money to be made these days in MLM but the downfall is that it’s not going to last very long, as most distributors find their business shrinking just as fast as it was growing.
The average distributor quits within 60 to 120 days.
For the majority, that is hardly worth the effort for the small commissions the MLM companies are paying out.
Because their comp plans are so largely spread out, we are barely paid on our own efforts.
The average MLM company pays out $25-$75 as a “quick start” for each new rep you sponsor.
…and guess what? They quit in 4 months, or less!
Is that even worth our hard work, blood, sweat and tears?
Is it worth the constant whining and hand-holding?
Absolutely not!
Sadly, in today Internet age, new MLM reps will continue to bail just as quickly as they signed up thanks to all the ridiculous advertising flaunted all over the web, including on your company’s own search engine results.
Today’s competition is brutal to say the least.
And trying to advertise ourselves simply isn’t an option, as the advertising cost to sponsor a new rep continues to skyrocket upward while the life time value of that distributor continues to decline.
It appears the opportunity in MLM just isn’t what it used to be.
I bet that explains why many of the top MLM leaders and new emerging leaders are leaving the industry in favor of a powerful concept called G.P.T.
G.P.T. is not a company, it’s not an business opportunity, and it’s not a product, service or system of any kind.
It’s an answer. A solution to tiny checks, leaking downlines, and the “quick-turn” mentality that has taken over MLM.
Although, MLM is still a very popular business model, it seems to have less and less appeal to blue collar professionals who can’t see themselves peddling vitamins and potions to replace a six-figure income.
As for G.P.T., it is sure to play a major role in networking from this point forward.
Successfully,
Jeremy Johnston
